Business Brand: the unique design, sign, symbol, words, or a combination of these, used in creating an image that identifies a product, business or service.
Browser: a free software package that lets you view web pages, graphics, and most online content. It converts the code into readable documents. Commonly they are Firefox, Google Chrome (my preference), Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge and Safari.
Colors RGB or CYMK: red, green and blue colors are used in electronic displays. Printers print color onto paper using the CMYK color which is cyan, magenta, yellow and black.
Content Management System oftern referered to as cms: a web based system that allows users to create and maintain a website. The main advantage is that you can access your website files from any computer that is connected to the internet.
Domain name: IP address is translated into a domain name.
E-commerce aka electronic commerce: online selling and buying products or services.
Font-family: a set of related fonts, the browser will only use the font that is available on the system on which it operates, otherwise it will use an unappealing font.
Hyperlink or link: a word, group of words, or image that you can click on within a webpage or a document to jump to another webpage, document, image or video. The whole internet system is a collection of links.
Internet aka www, the web or net: an interconnection of web sites all around the world.
Internet Service Provider aka isp: a private company that connects you to the internet.
IP address: Every computer, cell phone, and device that uses the Internet is assigned at least one IP address for tracking purposes. Wherever you browse, send email or instant message, or download a file, your IP address acts like a car licence plate.
Keywords and Tags: terms used to locate documents on the Web. They are used by search engines.
Responsive Web Design: Responsive Web design is when the web site self adjusts to the user's screen size, platform and whether horizontal or vertical orientation.
San Serif font: a typeface without the decorations. This type normally looks best on backlight devices such as computer screens, tv monitors and slideshow screens.
Serif font: a typeface that has decorations on the edges of the characters. This type looks best for printed material such as paper or newsprint or other media that doesn't have a backlight.
URL or uniform resource locators: are the web browser addresses of internet pages and files. It's like a street address which gets you to the exact location.
Web hosting: a service that allows you or business website to be accessible by others via the World Wide Web.
Web page: a web document that is suitable for the World Wide Web and can be interpreted by a web browser.
Web site: a collection of related web pages that are served from a single web domain and they normally have a consistent look throughout.
